The Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) Government of India, has initiated a Capacity Building Programme to enable officials at city and state level acquire the necessary skills to manage the huge investments in the urban transport sector.  As a part of this initiative, Transportation Research and Injury Prevention Programme (TRIPP) at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, is organizing Sustainable Urban Transport Planning: Training Workshop, 20-22 March 2014.. 

Workshop Objectives
This three day training workshop will bring together officials working in the area of transportation sector at city and state levels, and will acquaint them with the  state-of-the-art information in the fields of transportation planning, safety and planning of sustainable infrastructure.  The workshop is specially designed for sensitizing the participants to the future transportation needs of the cities with emphasis on public transport and non-motorized transport.  The workshop content is focused on a healthy blend of theory, discussions and field visits to give a first-hand experience to the participants.

The training workshop will have a limited number of participants who must be working in transportation sector at city or state level preferably in planning and implementation of transportation projects.

Host Institution

Transportation Research and Injury Prevention Programme (TRIPP) at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India

is an interdisciplinary programme focusing on the reduction of adverse health effects of road transport. Faculty members are involved in planning safer urban transportation systems and infrastructure for the future. It is the Volvo Research and Educational Foundations International Centre of Excellence and Ministry of Urban Development, Centre of Excellence for urban transport.
